There is a lot of controversy regarding differences between a red nose pit bull and a blue nose pit bull. Some feel there is no difference at all in the bloodlines of both dogs except the difference in the color of the noses.
This group of individuals also firmly believes that the cause for the controversy is merely a marketing scheme to make one “nose” more popular than the other. Nevertheless, the controversy continues with a select group of people firmly believing that the red nose pit bull is from the red nose breed.
In addition, that the coat of a red-nosed pit bull comes in earthier colors such as fawn, tan, chocolate, or red. They also believe the eyes are either yellow or green. The coat of the blue or black nosed pit bull is the darker earthier colors such as brown or hazel and sometimes has blue eyes.
These same group of people also say the build or stature of a blue-nose pit bull is a short body with a larger head and much more muscular than a red-nose pit bull. In comparison, the red-nose pit bull is leaner with a comparatively smaller head and taller than the blue-nose pit bull.
The blue-nose pit bull is considered by some to be a show dog whereas the red-nose pit bull is bred as a fighting dog even though blue noses have been used for fighting as well. Both breeds are very people friendly as well as dog-friendly.
Red noses are particularly known to be more energetic and playful. Just be sure to socialize these dogs especially as pups then and as they are growing up. If successful, you could have two red-nosed or blue-nosed pit bulls in the same household.
Blue-nose pit bulls are also thought to have Amstaff or American Staffordshire Pit Bull blood in their veins. Others believe that blue-nosed pit bulls are related to the American Pit Bull Terrier. However, today pit bulls also known as America bullies also have blue noses. A few have red noses, however, it is considered a fault by the AKC.
Red-nosed pit bulls are thought to originate out of Ireland and were dubbed “Old Family Reds” and “Red Noses” since they had the distinctive red coat along with the red nose and gold eyes.
However, the only pit bull that is the true pit bull is the American Pit Bull Terrier regardless if they are red nosed, blue nose, blue coat, brindle coat, red coat, fawn and white, cream coat or the black mask. All of the pit bulls are pure American Pit Bull Terriers.
So is there really a difference between a red nose pit bull and a blue nose pit bull?
All in all the term “red nose” or “blue nose” is just merely the color of their nose and not indicative of a specific breed. If a pit bull that has a red nose has a different body structure with a blue nose one, it is the lineage and breeding of that particular dog that makes that dog distinctive in its build, coat, color, eyes or temperament.
Of course, this is considering that particular pit bull is a purebred and not mixed with another breed of dog.
