Pit bull breeds originated for many different reasons. This specific Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed was originated because coal miners in England needed a strong and small work dog.

Due to this distinct need, the Staffordshire bull terrier is the smallest of all the pit bull types but is also incredibly strong. This dog usually ranges in size between 14 to 16 inches tall and about 22 to 40 pounds in weight.

This type of pit bull has a natural drive to be busy and this can often be seen as exuberant energy. Just like the other pit bull breeds, they are affectionate and loving. They may be strong and stocky, but they are also cute and adorable.

What is the general appearance this breed? It has a smooth, short coat. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier can come in a variety of colors including red, fawn, white, black, blue, and tan.
